Dear Seattle:
February 24, 2008
Why so violent lately? Are you cranky? It is 2:54 AM on Sunday, and I have been hearing nothing but police, fire, and ambulance sirens wailing CONSTANTLY since 11:30pm! What gives?
2008 does not seem to have gotten off on the right foot for you. I mean, there seems to be a high profile shooting or stabbing every day now! Granted, there are other cities that are far more violent and crime ridden than you are; and they can proclaim that all they want. I am not really sure how proud I would be if my city had a higher crime rate.
The 2 women stabbed on Cap Hill, the 3 people behind Neighbours last saturday, that shooting yesterday at Northgate Mall…take a chill pill Seattle! It’s 50 degrees! Don’t go around killing people! Enjoy the weather! On second thought, maybe that’s why all of this stuff is happening. Quick! We need a cold snap so everyone is locked in their houses. C’mooooon snow!
You’re kind of testing my patience its bad enough that I have to listen to The Drunk Parade of R Place and the surrounding bars, accompanied by the sounds of douchebag car drivers that put coffee can mufflers on their autos. I can handle that, but these sirens are driving me nuts! That doesn’t mean I am going to go around killing people. That means I am going to design portfolio items.
Represent the Lollipop Kids Emerald City, not the Gangs of New York.
I just grabbed a quick lunch at the local McDonald’s, and now I hate myself. However, there was a German family next to me, and I could understand most of what they said, so, not so bad.
That is all.
Good luck Kosovo. It’s going to be a little rough at first, being as your neighbors *coughSeriba! *coughRussia!* don’t really “approve”, “accept” or “recognize” your independence, but the US and EU have got your back on this and I wish you all good fortune and good health in the coming years. I hope to some day visit your country and put a couple of dollars in your pockets to help get you fine folks up and running again.
I don’t mean to be a bummer here Kosovo, but I think your flag may need a bit more time in the thumbnail stage. Now, I know you got about 993 entries for the contest, and I know that 992 of them were horrible, and I know the UN told you that you can’t have a flag that shows favoritism to one ethnicity over another, but you can do better than that! Look at Canada! They have tons of different people and ethnic groups! I mean, granted Canada started out, and still technically is, under the auspices of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, but they do a pretty good job.

They started out with this:
but then after a few more debates, they came up with this the current flag’s Papa:
in 1964. At least stylize it a little bit! Otherwise you look like…like…well, like CYPRUS
and they have two sides that hate each other!
You are your own country now! Be proud of it! It’s not bad for a first run, I am still prod of you. If I had more time I would send you some of my examples, but I don’t think you would like them because I have never been to the Balkans and well, let’s face it, nobody likes a flag that is designed for them by an outsider.

In honor of Giuseppe Zangara attempting to kill President-elect Franklin Delano Roosevelt in 1933, but instead assassinating Chicago mayor Anton Cermak during the same incident 75 years ago on this day I have made this for dinner:
